   Britain wants to see China flourish in the world economy.
   We want China to join the WTO, accepting the obligations that membership entails, as soon as possible.
   We will continue to work towards that goal, including with the Europeans Commission, which represents the European Union in these matters. The EU has recognized China’s right to developing country status without  diluting its WTO obligations. We hope that China can show flexibility in the negotiations on membership too.China’s latest position in the talks in Geneva, for example on the rights of joint venture companies, is apromising step. We need to turn to other issues of market access, and rekindle work on the protocol  accession.
